Each applicant undergoes rigorous interviewing and screening
procedures. In addition detailed academic and personal references
are obtained and held at The Tutors Group. All new tutors are
required to attend our training programme and once tutoring,
they file lesson plans and lesson diaries with us for each tutorial.
In addition, tutors have access to our extensive library of
past exam papers, syllabuses and teaching aids.
Experience has shown that relatively young tutors achieve the
best results. Children will learn more from someone they like
and hence want to please. If the child and tutor become good
friends, the academic work falls into place. Since many potentially
superb educators choose more lucrative careers, classrooms sadly
miss out on a vast array of talent. We recruit some of these
people who would love to teach and have the ability, but cannot
envisage life as a conventional teacher. The majority of our
tutors have taken their first degree and are involved with a
professional qualification such as law or medicine. This means
that they have been passing examinations twice a year for at
least ten years and are extremely adept at study skills and
examination technique. They understand the horrors of examinations
because they are still taking them.
We also have full-time tutors, with years of experience, who
undertake long-term assignments of between two months and two
years. They work all over the world providing a complete education
for children who are not attending school or as an addition
to a mainstream school in order to maximise your child's potential.
Not only are our tutors academically qualified to teach the
required subjects, they also understand the crucial role of
confidence in determining success.
