Although many children will show a dramatic improvement after just a few sessions with a personal tutor, some may need more specialised help. Tailored Tutoring is designed to go to the root of the problem – not simply to provide assistance with troubling school subjects but to ask why the child is struggling in the first place and to solve those problems.

Initially, each child is thoroughly assessed to identify their specific learning difficulties and educational needs. Following this, the child is assigned a tutor who is fully trained to construct and conduct an individual learning program. Skills can be improved by, for example, using memory games to help short term memory; logic puzzles to aid abstract reasoning; chess to assist spatial ability; dice games to benefit intuitive numeracy or word games to improve vocabulary.

The lessons in the tailored program are supplementary to scheduled subject tutoring. Crucially, the sessions will be inspiring, fun, multi-sensory and (on the face of it) nothing to do with schoolwork!
