We find that the first time a child has a tutor
there is sometimes resentment along the lines of "it will
ruin my holidays". However, after the first assignment
the child often asks the parents to arrange the same tutor for
the next vacation. With the right tutor, learning is fun.
For maximum convenience, the tutoring takes place in the family
home. In London, the tutor visits and spends a few hours a week
with the child, arranged at the family's convenience. This works
well with children who are at day school in London as the necessary
relationship is built up over time.
Many families continue the weekly tutoring for part of the
school holidays. This can be especially beneficial during the
long summer vacation where, without the time pressures and exertion
of the school day, tremendous progress can be made.
Outside London and abroad, this system is not practical as
the chance of finding an appropriate tutor within a reasonable
distance of the client is slim. Hence, some of our tutors live
with the family during their assignments. The tutoring lasts
between three and four hours a day, but the learning process
continues for the rest of the day. A good relationship is built
up between the tutor and the child as they engage in activities,
which captivate the child's interest.
The majority of our tutors drive and we try to match their
musical or sporting abilities to your child's interests. For
Common Entrance it is often possible to provide a tutor who
went to the public school that the child will attend.
