The Blythe Hall School Day

8.30am - 9.30am
Our in-house chef serves breakfast for all the students whilst they read the newspapers and have a discussion led by the Director of Studies about the news and world events. This is important for general knowledge and also for interviews at future schools. Although the students do not have to attend this breakfast meeting, it is so popular that they all do.

9.30am – 1.00pm
This time is divided into four forty-minute lessons with breaks. They are multisensory, interactive, fun and move precisely at the pace of the individual student at that time and on that day. Due to this, the speed of progress can be astonishing.

At 11.30am
The chef distributes freshly prepared soup in order to keep the students’ focus and energy levels at their peak.

1.00pm – 2.00pm Luncheon.
This is a choice of freshly prepared dishes utilising the highest quality of organic ingredients by our in-house chef. Students can request their favourite dish as long as it concurs with our highly nutritional food policies. We are happy to cater individually for special dietary requirements or belief systems, which are ascertained at the beginning of term when the chef has a personal meeting with each of our students. However, we will not cater for ‘ I don’t like’. Food is important and hence we insist on developing palates as a key part of the educational progress. The students eat together and continue tutor-led discussions about the news, world events, technology and philosophy. Parents and friends are welcome without notice on any day. However if you are bringing more than two people we ask that you let us know the day before so that the correct quantities can be prepared.

2.00pm – 4.30pm

On Monday, Wednesday and Friday this time is divided into a further three forty-minute lessons. Tuesday and Thursday afternoons are given over to sport and extra-curricular activities.

4.30pm
Most students go home, some stay to do a little more work. Blythe Hall is open to them until 8.00pm every day and there are always tutors around to ask for help or guidance. This also means that if you are collecting your child, we don’t mind at all if you are delayed by a meeting or appointment: but your child might!

Please also note that the school day ends at 3.30pm on Fridays to facilitate your weekend plans, but again the building remains open so students can stay later if they wish.
